Friends of the Fernandina Beach Library (FOL) are pleased to announce the opening of their latest art exhibit “Air and Water. The Art of Mingming.” It will run July 6 thru October 29, 2022. This exhibit will showcase the watercolor plein air and oil painting work of Mingming Bowerson, a local artist.

The exhibit features artwork of boats, harbors, landscapes and floral still lifes in both watercolor and oil. The work is notable for its exquisite photographic-like detail. Mingming is originally from China and has enjoyed painting as long as she can remember. A friend of her parents, who was a famous Chinese artist, taught her how to draw and oil paint in her early life.

Later in life here in the US she has studied with several art masters such as Kim English, Matt Smith, Colley Wisson, John Wilson, and others. She has won numerous awards for her work. Her work is available for purchase and a portion benefits Friends of the Library programming.

The exhibit opens to the public on July 6th and there will be an opening reception on Saturday, July 9 at 2 pm. The exhibit will remain open for the monthly Artrageous Art Walk from 5-7 pm as well on Saturday July 9th.

Exhibit is open during normal library hours unless there is a community meeting in the exhibit room.
