The Nassau County Public Library is excited to announce the expansion of its digital library services with a new program for tracking reading! Beanstack, which will launch on Friday, August 12, 2022, will provide readers with a digital way to participate in reading challenges, record reading progress and track reading goals. By participating in challenges in Beanstack, readers will be able to earn digital badges. The app and website are very intuitive and easy to use.

The library will start Beanstack’s launch with challenges for most ages! The first one is entitled “1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Challenge”. The goal of this reading challenge is to read 1,000 books with your child before they start kindergarten. It might sound daunting, but if you read one book a day for three years, you will surpass this goal. Read and log those favorite books that you read multiple times or discover new favorites. This challenge also has ideas for fun reading activities for you and your children to do together.

We have two reading challenges for students in grades 3-8 called “Sunshine State Young Readers”. In these challenges, students in grades 3-5 and grades 6-8 will be picking from the books on the Sunshine State Young Reader list; the goal is for them to read four of the titles.

Our first challenge for our adult readers called “Hot Titles of 2022”. Readers will read and log 6 of the titles listed in the challenge in order to successfully complete it. All the books have been on the best-seller lists in 2022 and include both fiction and non-fiction titles.

In order to entice you to try Beanstack, we will be offering a free gift to anyone who comes into any of our 5 library branches and shows us they have downloaded the app and completed the registration. More details about how to get registered can be found on the library website, nassaureads.com.
We believe this app will be another valuable reading tool for you and your family. Our hope is that you will continue to be introduced to new books and will be able to connect with other Nassau County Public Library readers.
